Craniosacral Therapy is subtle, but powerful, bodywork that uses light touch to locate and release restrictions, tension and pain in our physical and emotional bodies.

Craniosacral Therapy is a hands-on type of bodywork that is practiced on a fully-clothed patient. When the Craniosacral Therapist places their hands on a patient’s body, they are looking for what is called the Cranial Rhythm. The Cranio Rhythm is a lot like your pulse, but slower and far more subtle. This rhythm is produced by the flow of your cerebral spinal fluid (the fluid that nourishes, cleans and feeds your spinal cord and brain). If a therapist locates any areas where the rhythm is moving quickly or not at all, there may be a restriction and the therapist is equipped with tools to help release anything that might be in the way.

I had always wanted to try craniosacral therapy in an effort to relieve some of my fibromyalgia symptoms. Tatum provided an amazing first experience; she was very knowledgeable about the entire process and was able to answer my many questions. At one point she blew my mind by reading my body’s physiology to determine posture habits I have. Not only was the experience a relaxing time to de-stress, but my body felt great during the entire process and afterwards. I would highly recommend Tatum for a bunch of reasons, among which would be that she’s a genuinely nice and interesting person with an obvious respect and passion for her work.

This work invites your body to engage in its natural ability to heal itself. Your body does its best self-healing work when the parasympathetic (rest/digest) division of your autonomic nervous system is in charge. Modern life and daily stressors are constantly triggering the sympathetic (fight/flight/freeze) division of our nervous system, which makes it hard for us to get well and stay that way. The nerve roots for your parasympathetic system are located at the base of your spine (near your sacrum), and at the base of your skull (in your cranium), hence the name Craniosacral Therapy. Many people fall asleep or into a deep meditative state during a session and report feeling less pain and more grounded for days and weeks after a treatment.

These extremely gentle, full-body sessions can treat:
