Live Treatment Demonstration for Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists, and Bodyworkers
We are excited to welcome our teacher, colleague, and friend Michael McMahon, LAc, LMT of Moving Mountain Institute to the Constellation Classroom for a special event exploring the many ways that manual therapy techniques can be applied in the clinic. Michael is a massage and bodywork educator based in Portland, OR who teaches courses in myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and integrated visceral therapies. He combines these modalities with acupuncture and Chinese medicine in his patient care approach. While this event is open to all, it is especially geared at acupuncture, massage, and bodywork practitioners and students.
One of the tricky things to cover in a course dedicated to a specific modality is how a provider might combine them with other skills they already have. Michael finds that for most of his patients, a combination of modalities serves them best.
We rarely, if ever, get to see our colleagues at work and this is such a bummer! We are missing out on the creativity and perspective that our collective carries. Watching how someone combines skills they have developed can free us up to explore our own creativity in our work.
To these ends, Michael will be offering a live treatment demonstration on a patient. Folks will get to watch Michael do a modified intake specific to this scenario, how the information learned helps set up the initial treatment and then how treatment unfolds from there. There will be time for discussion after the treatment has ended.
This will be an in-person event, and also live-streamed and recorded for folks who cannot attend in-person or live online.
Registration: $20
All proceeds, less transaction fees, will be donated to a local, health-focused nonprofit in Minneapolis supporting LGBTQ+ folks.
About the Instructor
Michael McMahon (he/him) is licensed massage therapist, licensed acupuncturist, and the founder of Moving Mountain Institute, based in Portland, OR.
With over 25 years of clinical experience, his background spans bodywork, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and deep study into the intersection of our emotional health and physical experience. His approach in both the clinic and the classroom bridges conventional anatomical understanding with a profound respect for and curiosity about the body’s inherent wisdom.
He is also an avid reader, writer, and nature explorer, and he’s actively engaged in my community and networks of holistic healthcare providers.
