L.Ac., Dipl.O.M, MSOM
Cupping Club practitioner (cupping, tui na massage)
Specialties: pain and tension, headaches, stress, digestion, fatigue, emotional conditions
While living on a community supported agriculture farm in 2005 as a resident artist, Rhea began collecting wild herbs and making herbal medicine. This initial experimentation in herbal medicine allowed Rhea to realize that she could take her health into her own hands. This began her journey to learn as much as she could about holistic medicine in a wide variety techniques such as acupuncture, nutrition, Tui Na massage, cupping, Gokhale posture training, and Qi Gong. A long time sufferer of psoriasis (an inflammatory skin condition), Rhea was eventually able to heal her skin entirely with holistic medicine.
Rhea has experience in treating a wide variety of conditions with cupping and Tui Na massage, such as sports injuries, back and joint pain, jaw tension, arthritis, headaches, and inflammation. Although cupping and Tui Na are primarily used for pain conditions, Rhea has found they may be helpful for premature aging, chronic stress, digestive issues, detoxification, poor circulation, fatigue, and emotional conditions.
Rhea is a licensed acupuncturist and board certified herbalist. In 2012, she earned her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree from American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Roseville, MN. In addition to acupuncture and herbal medicine, her training also included cupping, Tui Na massage, moxibustion, and Gua Sha. Rhea also works with Chinese medicine patients at Spot Spa, located here in Minneapolis.
In her free time, Rhea is an avid gardener and a ceramic artist. She sells pottery and homemade digestive bitters at several shops in town.
